Knowledge is Power

Reading is one of my favorite hobbies, because it opens my mind to a new world, and a different dimension. My love for reading and writing began as a teenager in the hills of Owinni Oyo State, Nigeria. I read all sorts of books, mostly R-rated books (don’t judge). My mind went wild.  From Things Fall Apart, Chike and the River, The Lion and the Jewel, to books by James Hardly Chase (I don’t remember the titles). One popular read for me then Hearts Magazine (favorite column was Pamela), and Hints Magazine (if you were around in the 90’s, you know what I mean). Those magazines showed me what sex, love and heartbreak was about (I was not even in a relationship), but I already painted the sex moves and all based on what I read. I painted the picture of all that I read in those books .
As I got older, my collection began to change. I began reading books to enhance my mind (after Hardly Chase), I started collecting books (strange but yeh). I spend my little petty money on cheap books from $0.01 to a maximum of $1.00 (Yeh!).  I have suddenly become obsessed by one of my favorite authors John C. Maxwell (Favorite book: Failing Forward, book review coming soon), that I have about 20 plus of his books (about to read them at my spare time).
Books open up your mind. It enhances your knowledge. You become empowered when you read.  For children, start them young. Read to them books that would empower them. Books that will let them  be creative and use their imagination.
As usual I leave you with this “Knowledge is POWER. Information is POWER. The secreting or HOARDING of knowledge or information may be an act of TYRANNY camouflaged as HUMILITY. – Robin Morgan.
